England Tour Of South Africa 2009-2010 : Cricket Tours

England's Cricket Tour of South Africa 2009-2010 started with the warm up 50 over match with Eagles Cricket team. The tour consists of two Twenty20, 5 One Day Internationals followed by four test matches.

Twenty20 Matches Schedule

In this Cricket tour England will play two Twenty20 Internationals. The first match scheduled on 13th Nov 2009 to be played at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. The remaining Twenty20 match will be played at SuperSport Park, Centurion on 15th Nov.

One Day Internationals

There will be five One Day Internationals to be played in this bi-national Cricket series. It starts with the day night game on 20th November at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Following is the complete list of all the ODI.

Champions League Cricket 2009

Introduced for the first time will be hosted in India. This tournament will be played between top Cricket league teams from different countries. These teams are divided into 4 groups and the tournament will proceed in 3 stages as described by following.

Group Stage

The teams are divided into four groups 3 teams each and they will compete each other for first two positions. The Groups are as following.

  • Group A (A1 Deccan Chargers (A2 Somerset (A3 Trinidad & Tobago
  • Group B (B1 NSW Blues (B2 Eagles (B3 Sussex
  • Group C (C1 Royal Challengers Bangalore (C2 Cape Cobras (C3 Otago
  • Group D (D1 Delhi Daredevils (D2 Victoria (D3 Wayamba
The first two teams finishing in each group will be promoted to next stage, the league state. Note that they will retain the same League positions irrespective of their winning positions along their winning points and NRR. For example if in a group B team E2 finishes first, still they retain their 2nd positions. If the team from the first two could not qualify then the third team will take their position.

League Stage

Qualified teams from the group stage will be divided into two league of 4 teams each as following. At this stage each team will retain their winning points again the other team along with their NRR. So the winner of group stage will be having advantage over the loosing team. In the league stage they will compete for Semi Final.

  • League A: A1, A2, B1, B2
  • League B: C1, C2, D1, D2

Final And Semi Final

Now the teams ending at first two positions of the league stage shall proceed to the Semi Final stage. And the two winners from the semi finals will play the final and compete each other to be the first winner of Champions League Twenty20 Tournament.
